JJVS

Donation Form

Genesis

Jagran Jan Vikas Samiti” means an association dedicated to public awareness and self-development through cooperative efforts. The idea for forming Jagran coincides with the famine of 1985 in Udaipur. The all around chaos prevailing during that period moved some enthusiastic youths to come together and form Jagran Jan Vikas Samiti in 1987 in Vali.

This scarcity propelled a mutual interaction between Jagran and the local community. As part of its first engagement with the community, Jagran encouraged the people to plant vegetation suitable to be used as fodder. 500 families from the local community supported this initiative of Jagran wholeheartedly. As a result around 5000 saplings of drought resistant plant Sarlar were transplanted.

As a social development organization Jagran strived to mobilize resources from the community in order to serve the deprived. As part of the mobilization drive Jagran started “Jholi Abhiyan” whereby it collected donation both in kind and cash from local people. Jagran encountered the next challenge of skill development of its workers, for which it turned to its fellow development organizations.

Since its inception in 1987 Jagran has taken up initiatives on livelihood generation, menstrual health, reviving the traditional system of treatment through Gunis, educating people, Women empowerment and livelihood generation, volunteer management, COVID relief, and macro-level planning using GIS-based tools.
