Munger Bai lives in Vali Village of Kurabar blocks is member of the Sawariya Seth SHG. Her husband works in the city and three out of four of her children are married while one is undergoing vocational training. She has no formal system of education but is capable of doing basic maths. She says that she had taken loan from the SHG when her granddaughter was ill.
Maunger Bai was motivated by a community worker to join Jagran in 2008-2009. Later she joined women collectives and started saving money on a monthly basis. She says associating with Jagran has made her more aware about issues like cleanliness, child marriage and domestic violence against women. Not only this she now uses her agency to disseminate this knowledge during the SHG meetings. She even used her savings to open a small cosmetic shop in her house. During her association with Jagran she was provided a loan from the revolving fund to buy a buffalo which diversified her sources of income.
She says she used to earn Rs 1500 every month but now she earns Rs 3000 per month and has improved her general awareness about issues.
